THE CLIFFHANGER is a combination
of winch challenge, navigation, speed, and short course trials
all on one massive outback property near White Cliffs, North West
NSW.
In 2009 we have cash prizes. We are
on track to offer $5000 to first place, $3000 to second and $2000
to third place. But wait, there's also $100 for the Top 10 of
each stage. All up that's $30,000 in prize money making Cliffhanger
Australia's richest 4WD event.
Entry fee is only $2,500 inc. GST. Pay $500 deposit
on registration
Pay before 31st March, 2009 and recieve a $300
discount, making the entry fee $2,200 inc. GST. Pay $500 deposit
on registration.
Entry fees after 31st March, 2009 will be $2,500
inc. GST. Pay $500 deposit on registration.
There is just one base camp for everyone
- competitors, marshals and spectators. 4wd camper trailers and
tents are ideal. Toilets and showers will be on site and all 3
meals will be catered for. Yep, I can see the wife and kids coming
to watch this one. Dates coincide with school holidays in all
states.
We are running 2 classes in 2009 - unregistered "Buggy Class"
and registered "Challenge Class". The $10,000 1st-3rd
prizes will be pro-rata split based upon the % split of entries
into each class. The $20,000 stage prizes ($1000 per stage) will
go $100 to all the top ten outright place getters, regardless
of class. So most people will drive home with lute, not just the
top dudes.
As we are only on private property
we can be a bit more forgiving on the scrutineering list and don't
require things like roof lights dipping with low beam, etc. Furthermore,
unregistered vehicles are OK but must be sound and comply with
the scrutineering sheet.
You WILL all need harnesses, helmets
and window nets.
 Everyone
will need mounted winches, a gps unit, good lighting and helmets.
Typically every day will have 1 speed trial, 1 winch stage, 1
navigation and 1 combo. (This may vary on some days) Vehicles
will rotate through these in groups. Some nights there is 1 further
stage where all vehicles are together (All up - 18 stages).
Each day has a different theme. Every stage on a given day can
be observed from one vantage point, so spectators don’t miss any
of the action.
Don't forget the $30,000 prize pool,
making it one of the richest 4wd Event in Australia.
